Frequently Asked Questions

What is Kapuradi Oil and what is it used for?

Kapuradi Oil (also known as Karpooradi Thailam or Karpuradi tailam) is a traditional Ayurvedic herbal oil made with camphor and other herbs infused in a base oil (often sesame oil).

It is primarily used for muscle and joint comfort, soothing stiffness, and as a part of body massage or Panchakarma therapies.

How should I apply Kapuradi Oil for massage or Panchakarma use?

Warm a small amount of oil (gently, not overheated).

Apply to the affected area or entire body and massage using circular or stroking motions, moving from distal to proximal.

For Panchakarma, this oil may be used before external therapies like heat (Swedana) or herbal fomentation.

What benefits might I experience from regular use?

Potential benefits include:

Relief from muscle stiffness, soreness, or aches

Improved circulation and flexibility

Warming support for joints and muscles

Support during seasonal changes when joints feel colder or stiffer

Does it have a strong smell?

Yes - due to the presence of camphor and warming herbs, Kapuradi Oil tends to have a strong, penetrating, herbal aroma. Some users find it refreshing but those sensitive to camphor or strong scents should test first.

Can I use this oil in daily wellness routines beyond massage (e.g. for joints after exercise)?

Yes - it can be applied to sore or stiff joints or muscles after physical activity to help ease tension. Many users also employ it for nightly foot or leg massage to relax tired muscles.
